Please read this first. This is a business reporting template for class-level and school-level figures. It is not a school MIS, not a pupil record system and not a safeguarding system. The Data sheet holds one row per class record – there is no pupil name, date of birth, address, contact detail, SEN or safeguarding flag, and no free-school-meal field anywhere in it. “Students” is a headcount, not a list of children. The only personal-name column is Teacher, which arrives filled with ten invented demo names.

How to Use the Primary Schools Dashboard in Google Sheets

3. Go to the Data sheet and replace the 500 sample rows with your own class records, keeping the 18 column headers exactly as they are.
4. Return to any analysis page. Pivots, slicers and formulas already reach row 1001, so up to 1,000 rows appear on their own.
5. Click a slicer to filter that page. Slicers are per-page, and Select all clears them.
6. Remember that the KPI cards and the At A Glance lists use SUMIFS, COUNTIFS and AVERAGEIFS against the Data sheet, so they stay unfiltered by design; the charts, pivots and Top 5 panels are the slicer-aware parts.
7. Use Search to pull a single class record by its Record ID.

Does this hold any pupil personal data?

No. Every row is a class record, and the 18 columns hold no pupil name, date of birth, address, contact detail, SEN or safeguarding flag, and no free-school-meal field. Students is a headcount. The one personal-name column is Teacher, which ships with ten invented demo names – if you paste real staff names in, treat that column as staff personal data under your own school’s data policy.

Is it connected to our MIS?

No. It is a static Google Sheet. Nothing refreshes on its own; the figures change when someone pastes new rows into the Data sheet.

Can it produce statutory returns or inspection evidence?

No, and it does not try to. It is a reporting template for figures you already hold, with no claim about statutory reporting, inspection readiness, attainment prediction or pupil-outcome measurement.

Why don’t the KPI cards change when I click a slicer?

By design. The KPI cards and the At A Glance lists read the whole Data sheet through SUMIFS, COUNTIFS and AVERAGEIFS, so they always show unfiltered totals. The charts, pivots and Top 5 panels respond to slicers.

How many rows can I paste?

1,000 without touching anything. Beyond that, open the Apps Script file, raise DATA_ROWS and re-run main().

Can I change the schools, districts, subjects or grade bands?

Yes. They are values in the Data sheet, not hard-coded lists – type your own and the pivots, slicers and charts pick them up.

Do I need to pay for Google Sheets?

No. A free Google account is enough. There is no subscription attached to this template.
