A good fit if you are a compliance manager, internal audit lead, risk officer, quality manager or operations director who already collects audit results in a spreadsheet and wants a management-ready, cross-filtering view of them. It suits organisations running internal audits and self assessments across several business units and regions, and consultants who present audit outcomes to a client board each quarter.

Not a good fit if you need automated evidence collection, continuous control monitoring, or a connector into a live GRC system – this report visualises the results you supply, it does not gather them. It is also the wrong tool if you need a single-page scorecard with targets and traffic lights, if you need a tamper-evident audit record for a regulator, or if you expect the file to tell you whether you are compliant. 2. Install Power BI Desktop if you do not have it – it is a free download from Microsoft.
3. Open the .pbix. Every page renders straight away on the 500 demo rows.
4. Open Data.xlsx, delete the demo rows and paste your own audit records under the same 19 headers. Keep the column order and the date format.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does buying this make my organisation compliant?

No. This is a reporting and visualisation template. It charts the audit results, findings, remediation costs and training hours that you supply. It performs no control testing, collects no evidence, grants no certification or assurance, and is not legal, regulatory or audit advice. Compliance with GDPR, SOX, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA, OSHA, AML / KYC or any other regime is determined by your organisation, your auditors and your regulators – never by a report file.

The demo data names GDPR, SOX, ISO 27001 and others. Is the template built to those standards?

No. Those are text labels in a Regulation column of sample data, chosen so the charts look realistic. They are mapped to no clause, control set, framework or certification scheme. Replace them with whatever framework names your programme actually uses.

Is this the same as the Compliance KPI scorecard template?

No – they are two different products. This is the analytical dashboard: five visible analysis pages, cross-filtering visuals, five slicers per page and a drillthrough. The KPI-scorecard line is a separate template with a month picker, traffic-light targets and a dedicated KPI Trend page. Buy whichever matches how you report.

Do I need a Power BI Pro licence?

Not to use the file. Power BI Desktop is free and opens, edits and refreshes the .pbix on your machine. A licence only comes into it if you want to publish the report to the Power BI Service and share it with colleagues – check Microsoft’s current licensing for that.

What happens if I have more or fewer than 500 rows?

It does not matter. Put as many rows as you have under the headers and refresh. Every measure and visual scales to whatever is loaded.

Can I add a business unit, region or regulation of my own?

Yes. Type the new value into the source file and refresh – it appears in the slicers, the charts and the scorecards automatically. No DAX editing needed.

Are the compliance officer names real people?

No. Every name in the demo data is fictional, generated purely so the officer-level visuals have something to rank. Replace the column with your own team, or delete it if you would rather not report at officer level.
