A tile plant that fires 223.9K boxes a year against a 241.1K plan is missing 17,200 boxes, and the reason is usually buried in one kiln line, one finish type or one shift. The Ceramic Tiles Production Dashboard in Power BI puts that answer on screen in five pages: $62.95M of production value, 92.9% plan attainment, 91.1% kiln uptime and a 74.2% batch pass rate, all sliceable by plant, kiln line, tile category, size, finish, region, shift and supervisor. It ships as a complete .pbix with 106 DAX measures already written and 500 demo batch rows you replace with your own export. Built and tested by NextGenTemplates, used by 300K+ subscribers across our channels. If the file does not open in Power BI Desktop, contact us and we will make it right. Key Features of the Ceramic Tiles Production Dashboard in Power BI
- Five laid-out report pages, plus a hidden Details drillthrough page and two 280×360 tooltip pages that appear on hover.
- 106 DAX measures covering volume, value, cost, margin, kiln utilisation, quality and dispatch – including 21 month-on-month delta measures that drive the arrows on the cards.
- 25 SVG KPI cards (five per page) with an inline sparkline and a MoM percentage. Cost and downtime cards invert the colour logic, so a fall in downtime reads green rather than red.
- Five synced slicers on every page: Date Range, Plant, Tile Category, Region, plus a page-specific fifth – Batch Status, Shift, Finish Type, Kiln Line or Dispatch Status. Change one and every page follows.
- Two scorecard tables with in-cell data bars and star ratings – a Plant Utilisation Scorecard and a Supervisor Quality Scorecard.
- A 22-column fact table and a Power Query date table, so Month, Quarter and Year hierarchies work the moment you refresh. Ceramic Tiles Production Dashboard in Power BI
What’s Inside the Ceramic Tiles Production Dashboard in Power BI
Page 1 – Overview
The plant-level summary: Production Value, Boxes Produced, Gross Profit, Plan Attainment and Quality Score as cards, then Boxes Produced & Production Value by Month, Production Value by Plant, Production Value by Region and Boxes Produced by Tile Category. This is the page you open on a Monday morning.

Page 2 – Production Trend
Planned against produced volume, month by month. Boxes Produced vs Plan Attainment by Month sits above Production Value by Quarter, Boxes Produced by Order Type (domestic, export, OEM) and Batches by Shift, so you can see whether a shortfall is seasonal or structural. Page 3 – Product Mix
Which categories carry the value and what they cost to fire. Production Value vs Cost by Tile Category pairs with Production Value by Tile Size, and the Tile Category Economics Scorecard lists value, net good boxes, value per box, gross margin and a quality star rating for each of the five categories.

Page 4 – Kiln Operations
Firing hours, downtime and uptime across four plants and four kiln lines. Downtime Hours by Month, Kiln Hours by Shift, Kiln Hours by Line and a Plant Utilisation Scorecard that puts boxes produced, kiln hours, downtime hours, uptime and value per box side by side.

Page 5 – Quality & Dispatch
Batch Pass Rate, Rejection Rate, First Pass Yield, Rework Rate and On Time Dispatch as cards, then Boxes Rejected & Rejection Rate by Finish Type, Batches by Outcome and a Supervisor Quality Scorecard covering eight supervisors. Quality Score and Batch Status are labels you enter or export from your own system – they are not measured, tested or certified values.

A sixth page, Get More Dashboards, is an in-file link back to our catalogue. Delete it before you circulate the report internally.

Who This Template Is For – and Who It’s Not For
It fits production managers at multi-plant tile works who already export batch data to Excel or a database; plant controllers who need value, cost and margin on the same page as volume; and analysts asked for a Power BI report this week rather than next quarter.
It does not fit if you want the dashboard to collect data from kilns – it reads a table, it does not talk to a PLC or an MES. It is not a quality-certification, standards-conformance, materials-testing or product-approval tool, and it makes no claim about the physical properties of any tile. If your reporting has to satisfy an external auditor or a certification body, treat this as a management view, not evidence.
How to Use the Ceramic Tiles Production Dashboard in Power BI
- Unzip the download. It contains the .pbix, the source Data workbook and a PDF user manual.
- Open the .pbix in Power BI Desktop (free from Microsoft).
- Open the Data workbook, delete the 500 demo rows and paste your own batch export under the same 22 headers.
- In Power BI, point the query at your file path and click Refresh. Every measure, card and chart recalculates.
- Set the Date Range slicer to your reporting window – the MoM arrows compare the latest month against the one before it.
- Right-click any bar and choose Drillthrough > Details to see the individual batches behind it.
- Delete the Get More Dashboards page, then publish or share the file. Ceramic Tiles Production Dashboard in Power BI
Real-World Use Cases
Rakesh, production manager, four-plant tile group. Plan attainment sits at 92.9% overall, but the Plant Utilisation Scorecard shows Bhilwara at 91.8% uptime on only 1.9K kiln hours. He uses the Kiln Line slicer to work out whether the gap is capacity or scheduling before the monthly review.
Meera, plant controller. The Product Mix page shows Porcelain Tiles at 43.5% gross margin against Wall Tiles at 32.6%. She filters by region to see whether the export order book is pulling mix toward the lower-margin lines.
Anil, quality lead. Rejection Rate is 1.9% overall, but the Supervisor Quality Scorecard spreads rework rate from 11.3% to 20.3%. He drills through to the batch rows for the two highest and takes the pattern to the shift handover.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a paid Power BI licence?
No. Power BI Desktop is free from Microsoft and opens, edits and refreshes the file. You only need a Pro licence if you want to publish the report to the Power BI Service and share it with colleagues.
Does this certify that my tiles meet any standard?
No. The dashboard reports the numbers you feed it. It performs no testing, references no product standard, and is not evidence of conformance, certification or product approval. Quality Score and Batch Status are labels you supply.
Can I add my own plants, kiln lines or tile categories?
Yes. Add the rows to the data table and refresh – the slicers, charts and scorecards pick up new values automatically because nothing is hard-coded to the demo list.
What are the 500 rows in the file?
Demo data, generated to show every visual populated. Delete them and paste your own export under the same headers.
Can I change the colours to our brand?
Yes. The report uses a custom theme file. Swap the theme in View > Themes, or edit individual visuals directly.
Is there an Excel version?
Yes – the Ceramic Tiles Production Dashboard in Excel covers the same topic for teams not on Power BI.
How do I connect it to our ERP or MES?
Replace the Excel source with any Power BI connector – SQL Server, SharePoint, an OData feed – as long as the query returns the same 22 columns. The measures do not care where the rows come from.
