Who This Template Is For – and Who It Is Not For

It is for an electrical contracting business with somewhere between three and eighty electricians, where somebody already produces monthly figures – from an accounts package, a job book, a field-service app or a spreadsheet – and needs to present them as a scored monthly review. It is for the owner who wants one page in front of the team on the first Monday of the month, and for the office manager who is tired of rebuilding the same summary by hand.

It is not for you if you want the file to pull numbers out of your accounting or field-service software – it does not connect to anything, and you type the figures in. It is not a job scheduler, a quoting tool, a timesheet system or a compliance register. It does not send alerts, reminders or emails. How to Use the Electrical Contractor KPI Scorecard in Excel

1. Unzip and open. The download holds the .xlsx workbook and a PDF user manual. Open the workbook in Excel for Windows – there are no macros to enable.
2. Set your title and year. On Color Settings, type your company’s report title and the reporting year. The year feeds the month picker so it reads Sep-25 rather than Sep.
3. Name your KPIs. On KPI Definition, overwrite the ten shipped rows – or add up to ten more – with your own name, group, unit, formula text, definition, direction (UTB or LTB) and YTD basis. Keep every name unique; the Check column turns red if you duplicate one.
4. Type your numbers. On Input Data, fill the matching numbered block: MTD and YTD Actual, Target and PY for each of the twelve months. Both MTD and YTD are yours to type – the workbook deliberately does not recalculate YTD, because a sum is right for revenue and job counts while an average is right for rates.
5. Tune the bands. On Color Settings, move the green / amber / red thresholds if 10% is not your tolerance.
6. Review. Open Scorecard, pick the month, switch MTD or YTD, choose the comparison basis, then use KPI Analysis for the group summary and KPI Trend to walk one KPI through the year.

Dan, owner of a 14-electrician commercial contractor. He closes the month in his accounts package on the fourth working day, types his figures into Input Data, and walks into the Monday review with the Scorecard on the screen. The two red tiles set the agenda, and nobody argues about which numbers are current.

Priya, operations manager at a domestic and small-commercial firm. She runs the scorecard on Prior Month rather than Target, because her seasonality makes an annual target misleading in January. Frequently Asked Questions

Does this connect to my accounting or field-service software?

No. There is no connector, no import and no API. You type finished monthly figures onto the Input Data sheet. That is the deliberate design – it means the scorecard works whatever system your numbers come from.

Does it send alerts, reminders or emails when a KPI goes red?

No. The traffic lights and arrows are conditional formatting inside the workbook. Nothing is sent anywhere.

How is this different from an Electrical or Power KPI Dashboard?

A KPI dashboard is an analytical build – more pages, more charts, usually driven by a table of transactions. This is a scorecard: one month at a time, target versus actual, scored red / amber / green, sized for a management meeting. Many buyers own both. Can I change the KPIs to my own?

Yes, all of them. Every page looks a KPI up by name from the KPI Definition sheet, so renaming a KPI there renames it on the Scorecard, KPI Analysis and KPI Trend automatically. There is room for twenty.

What version of Excel do I need?

Excel 2016 or later on Windows desktop. The file is a plain .xlsx. Excel for Mac and the browser version of Excel will open it, but the form-control dropdowns and camera-picture layout are built and tested for Windows desktop, so that is what we support.

Are the numbers in the screenshots real?

No. Every figure shown is sample data for a fictional contractor, there so you can see the workbook working. Clear the Input Data sheet and type your own.

Do I need macros enabled?

No. There are none. The workbook is 100% worksheet formulas, conditional formatting, camera pictures and sparklines.
