The Compliance Monitoring Dashboard in Excel turns 500 audit review records into five interactive report pages, 20 charts and four synced slicers – in a plain .xlsx file with no macros, no add-ins and no subscription. The demo data ships with 500 audit reviews, 12,628 controls tested, 2,099 findings raised, an 84.9% control pass rate, $9.1M of remediation cost and $44.9M of penalty exposure, so every visual is populated the moment you open it. Built by PK, a Microsoft Certified Professional whose templates reach 300K+ subscribers across the NextGenTemplates YouTube channels. One-time payment, lifetime use, and a User Manual PDF is included in the download.

Which one is this? NextGenTemplates ships two different compliance products with similar names. This is the analytical Excel dashboard – five pivot-driven report pages, 20 charts, four slicers and a raw Data sheet you replace. It is not the KPI-scorecard line, which is a separate template built around a month picker, traffic-light targets and a KPI Trend page. If you want breakdown-and-trend analysis across business units, regulations, regions and control categories, this is the one you want.

What’s Inside the Compliance Monitoring Dashboard in Excel

Seven sheets: five dashboard pages, one Data sheet and one Support sheet that holds the pivot tables feeding the visuals.

1. Overview

The five KPI cards sit across the top. Below them, a Control Pass Rate % donut reads 84.9% on the demo data, a clustered column compares Total Findings against Findings Resolved by business unit (Operations 543 raised and 318 resolved, down to Legal at 112 and 75), a bar chart splits Total Audit Reviews by Risk Level, and a column chart ranks Control Pass Rate % by Compliance Officer from 86.9% to 83.1%.

2. Findings Analysis

Findings raised versus resolved by Regulation (GDPR 458 and 311, ISO 27001 328 and 179, SOX 316 and 209, PCI DSS, AML / KYC, OSHA and HIPAA), Net Open Findings by Control Category (Third Party Risk 174, Information Security 162, Health & Safety 146, Financial Reporting 125, Data Privacy 100, Anti-Bribery 66), Total Remediation Cost by Risk Level, and Total Audit Reviews by Finding Status – Closed 233, In Remediation 101, Open 74, Overdue 50 and Accepted Risk 42.

3. Audit Performance

A pie splits Total Audit Reviews by Audit Type – Internal Audit 204 (41%), Self Assessment 144 (29%), External Audit 95 (19%) and Regulatory Inspection 57 (11%). Alongside it, Total Findings by Compliance Officer, Controls Tested versus Controls Passed by Quarter (Q1 2,775 tested and 2,225 passed, rising to Q4 3,849 and 3,398), and Avg. Audit Score by Business Unit from Finance 3.8 to Manufacturing 3.2.

4. Risk Exposure

Total Penalty Exposure by Region (North America $15.2M or 33%, Europe $12.0M, Asia Pacific $8.9M, Latin America $5.8M, Middle East & Africa $3.0M), Total Penalty Exposure against Total Remediation Cost by Regulation, Total Controls Tested by Risk Level, and Total Penalty Exposure by Month across all twelve months.

5. Training Readiness

Total Training Hours by Business Unit (Operations 1,784 hours down to Legal 661), Total Audit Reviews by Region, Avg. Audit Score by Control Category from Health & Safety 3.7 to Third Party Risk 3.1, and Total Training Hours by Month.

6. Data and 7. Support

The Data sheet is the only place you type. The Support sheet holds the pivot tables the charts read from – leave it alone unless you are adding a visual of your own.

Who This Template Is For – and Who It’s Not For

A good fit if you are a compliance manager, internal audit lead, risk officer, quality manager or operations director who already collects audit results in a spreadsheet and wants a management-ready view of them. It suits organisations running internal audits and self assessments across several business units and regions, and consultants who report audit outcomes to a client board each quarter.

Not a good fit if you need automated evidence collection, control testing or continuous monitoring against a live system – this workbook reports the results you enter, it does not gather them. It is also the wrong tool if you need a single-page scorecard with targets and traffic lights, if you need an auditable, tamper-evident record for a regulator, or if you are looking for the template to tell you whether you are compliant. It will not, and it is not designed to.

How to Use the Compliance Monitoring Dashboard in Excel

  1. Unzip the download and open Compliance Monitoring Dashboard in Excel.xlsx. Read the included User Manual PDF first if you want the two-minute tour.
  2. Open the Data sheet. The headers sit on row 2 and the 500 demo rows run beneath them.
  3. Delete the demo rows and paste your own audit records under the same headers. Keep the column order.
  4. Rename the label columns to match your programme – swap the regulation names, control categories, audit types and business units for yours.
  5. Press Ctrl + Alt + F5 (Data > Refresh All). Every KPI card and all 20 charts recalculate.
  6. Use the Month, Business Unit, Risk Level and Region slicers on any page to filter all five pages at once. Ctrl-click to multi-select, and use the funnel icon to clear.

Real-World Use Cases

Priya, compliance manager at a 900-person manufacturer. She runs quarterly internal audits across seven business units. Each quarter she pastes the closed audit log into the Data sheet, filters the Business Unit slicer to Manufacturing, and takes the Findings Analysis page straight into the operations review – open findings by control category, and what each risk level is costing to remediate.

Daniel, internal audit lead at a regional bank. He uses the Audit Performance page to show the audit committee how the mix of internal audits, self assessments and regulatory inspections shifted year on year, and the quarterly Controls Tested versus Passed chart to argue for two more testers.

Leila, an independent GRC consultant. She keeps one copy of the workbook per client, swaps the regulation labels to whatever framework that client works to, and delivers the Risk Exposure page as the headline slide of her quarterly report.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does buying this make my organisation compliant?

No. This is a reporting workbook. It charts the audit results, findings, remediation costs and training hours that you enter. It performs no control testing, grants no certification or assurance, and is not legal advice. Compliance with GDPR, SOX, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA, OSHA, AML or any other regime is determined by your organisation, your auditors and your regulators – never by a spreadsheet.

The demo data names GDPR, SOX, ISO 27001 and others. Is the template built to those standards?

No. Those are text labels in a Regulation column of sample data, chosen so the charts look realistic. They carry no mapping to any clause, control set or certification scheme. Replace them with whatever framework names your programme actually uses.

Is this the same as the Compliance KPI scorecard template?

No – they are two different products. This is the analytical dashboard: five report pages, 20 charts, four slicers, a 28-column Data sheet. The KPI-scorecard line is a separate template with a month picker, traffic-light targets and a dedicated KPI Trend page. Buy whichever matches how you report.

Do I need macros, Power Query or any add-in?

No. It is a plain .xlsx built on pivot tables and slicers. There is nothing to enable and no security prompt.

What happens if I have more or fewer than 500 rows?

It does not matter. Paste as many rows as you have under the headers and refresh. The pivots and charts expand to whatever is there.

Can I add a business unit, region or regulation of my own?

Yes. Type the new value into the Data sheet and refresh – it appears in the slicers and the charts automatically. No formula editing needed.

What exactly do I get in the download?

A zip containing the .xlsx workbook and an Excel Dashboard User Manual PDF. Lifetime use, unlimited machines, no subscription.
